About Harald Wiersema

Harald is part of the team of government specialists here at Holla Advocaten. He specialises in environmental law, procurement law, government liability and energy law. After working for an international law firm in Amsterdam and Rotterdam for nine years, Harald joined Holla Advocaten in January 2019. In 2018, Who’s Who Legal identified him as an expert in the field of environmental law in the Climate Change Law category. In 2016, the Advocatenblad named him as one of 35 ‘high flying’ lawyers under the age of 35.

Harald has broad social and legal interests. Influenced by his Dutch Peruvian origin and upbringing, he feels that different points of view and backgrounds are what make life interesting – which explains his enjoyment of complex cases in which a number of different disciplines come together. Just one example of cases like this: advising clients about the planning process for new residential areas, bearing in mind the issues presented by environmental law, energy law and the putting out to contract of heating concessions. Add the political dimension that projects like this involve and a case gains an element of challenge. Harald believes that a knowledge and experience of both administrative and civil law help to secure effective and creative solutions. He combines the above with an interest in and curiosity about his clients and their projects; he walks through fire for them in the cases they place with him.

His clients include companies, public institutions and semi-public institutions. He advises on a wide range of matters, including land-use plans, losses resulting from government planning decisions, sound and air quality, soil contamination, flora and fauna, permits and licences, traffic regulations, water legislation, water authority legislation, enforcement, compulsory purchases, rights of way and government participations. Harald acts for tenderers and contracting authorities in cases about works, services, supplies, special sectors and concessions. He advises clients on a number of issues in the field of energy law, including electricity, gas and heat supply and production, LPG filling stations, energy storage, charging stations, wind farms, solar farms, cables and pipes.

Harald is a singer and musician too. He finds that his music enables him to channel a lot of his creativity and passion; he enjoys making music with others most. Performing gives him a kick, which stands him in very good stead in court sessions.
