Boris Emmerig, Managing Partner Finance

About Boris Emmerig, Managing Partner Finance

Boris has worked as a tax advisor since 1990 and as a lawyer since 1996. He has over thirteen years’ experience as a deputy judge at the tax division of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal. He is a lecturer of the employment law specialism at the Leiden University Post-Graduate School (PAO), the Dutch Bar Association professional training programme and LexLumen. He frequently has articles published in the fiscal and legal trade press.

Boris is a tax specialist pur sang. He specialises in the areas of employment tax, corporation tax and tax procedures. His approach is characterised by pragmatism, creativity and close contact with his clients. As a person, he is straightforward, transparent and focused on forging connections and partnerships with others. His clients have described him in Chambers as “fast-thinking, able to calculate risk, very thorough and an excellent negotiator”.

His clients operate among others in the following sectors: the media and entertainment, property and construction and telecommunications. His relations with the Tax Authorities are excellent. Wherever possible, Boris seeks to converse with the Treasury in order to gain certainty in advance for his clients regarding the fiscal consequences of their transactions and other decisions they may make. The core values he upholds in this work include technical quality, respect and openness.

In his spare time, Boris is most likely to be found at extremes of altitude – either on a mountaintop somewhere on skis, or deep below sea level, exploring the stunning diversity of the (sub)tropical underwater world.
